Commercial Fire Alarm Installation in Austin, Texas

Avenger Security provides commercial fire alarm installation, replacement and system-modification services throughout Austin and Central Texas. We coordinate the technical scope from existing-condition review through programming, acceptance testing, monitoring and closeout documentation.

Fire alarm requirements depend on the building, occupancy, construction scope, approved plans and authority having jurisdiction. Equipment should be selected only after the required functions, interfaces, listings and documentation are understood.

Commercial projects we support

  • New commercial construction.
  • Tenant improvements and remodels.
  • Building additions and occupancy changes.
  • Obsolete control-panel replacement and phased modernization.
  • Sprinkler-monitoring and communicator projects.
  • Device additions, relocations and notification changes.
  • Corrective work following an inspection or plan-review comment.

Planning and design coordination

Texas regulates the planning, installation, certification, service and monitoring of commercial fire alarm systems. Depending on the project, plans may require preparation or certification by an appropriately licensed fire alarm planning superintendent or Texas registered professional engineer. Local plan-review requirements also apply.

A coordinated submittal may include:

  • Floor plans and device locations.
  • Equipment data sheets and compatibility information.
  • Battery, voltage-drop and notification-circuit calculations.
  • Sequence of operations or input/output matrix.
  • Riser and wiring information.
  • Monitoring and communication-path details.
  • Required interfaces with sprinkler, HVAC, elevator, kitchen suppression, access control and other building systems.

Installation scope

  • Fire alarm control units and remote annunciators.
  • Smoke, heat, duct and manual initiating devices.
  • Horn, strobe, speaker and voice-notification equipment.
  • Monitor, control, relay and isolation modules.
  • Remote power supplies and supervised circuits.
  • Cellular, IP and listed dual-path communicators.
  • Programming, point descriptions and system labeling.
  • Central-station account setup and signal verification.

We work with supported commercial platforms such as Fire-Lite, Notifier, Silent Knight and other listed equipment when the selected products fit the approved design and service requirements.

Austin permitting and acceptance

Austin Fire reviews fire-protection-system plans associated with new construction and renovations. The permit, review and inspection path varies by scope. Approved plans, completed installation, monitoring signals, system interfaces and closeout documents should be verified before the requested acceptance or fire-final inspection.

The authority having jurisdiction determines final approval. Installation by a licensed contractor does not replace plan review, permits or acceptance testing when they are required.

Project process

  1. Review the building, proposed construction and existing systems.
  2. Define the required functions, interfaces and communication path.
  3. Prepare or coordinate the plans, calculations and equipment package.
  4. Address AHJ comments and obtain required approvals.
  5. Install, program, label and pretest the system.
  6. Support acceptance testing and correct documented issues.
  7. Deliver records, monitoring information and customer orientation.
